This probably means the error is being caused by a Hardware/Software incompatibility. I receive no error on my computer when I replicate exactly what you are doing. And also, i tried to make a portrait/vertical video with no phone video, just a color slide/noise texture - and still had the render error. I guess one thing is to know I can make portrait video now, another is to wonder why landscape video from the phone has never caused any render error. How to use Handbrake v1.1.1 - Beginners Guide for Exporting Video Yesterday I published my Beginners Guide for Handbrake - the video I am making today should hopefully be easy to follow. I have been working on a lot of big and complex tutorials for the last couple of weeks. Then import the newly converted video into Vegas and everything will then work smoothly. My advice up until now, is for phone users to first convert their variable frame rate video into constant frame rate video, using a program like Handbrake When variable frame rate video is imported into Vegas, most of the time it can't read it properly and either screws it up or rejects it. Video from mobile phones can be very problematic in most Video Editing programs, because many phones record video using a Variable Frame Rate, whereas editing programs only work with Constant Frame Rate video. What has been discovered here, is similar to what I was going to suggest. You have found a solution to your problem  I was speaking to Mike yesterday on YouTube and asked him to post his question into the forum.
